Michael Hurley

Biography:

Michael Hurley is an American singer/guitarist, reportedly born December 20, 1941. He also plays the fiddle.

Hurley's debut album, First Songs, was recorded for Folkways Records in 1965 on the same reel-to-reel machine that taped Leadbelly's Last Sessions. He was "discovered" by blues and jazz historian Frederick Ramsey III, and subsequently championed by boyhood friend Jesse Colin Young, who released his 2nd & 3rd albums on The Youngbloods' Warner Bros.

THE WEREWOLF

Dm C
Oh the werewolf, oh the werewolf comes stepping along
Am Dm
He don't even break the branches where he's been gone
Dm C
You can hear his long holler from way 'cross the moor
Am Dm
That's the holler of the werewolf when he's feelin poor

Oh the werewolf, oh the werewolf have sympathy
Cause the werewolf he's somebody just like you or me
Once I saw him in the moonlight when the bats were aflyin
All alone I saw the werewolf and the werewolf was cryin

Eeeee Eeeee Eeeee …
Eeeee Eeeee Eeeee …

Crying nobody, nobody, nooo-body knows
How much I love the maid as I tear off here clothes
Crying nooo-body, nooo-body knows my pain
When I see that its risen, that full moon again

Eeeee Eeeee Eeeee …
Eeeee Eeeee Eeeee …

Crying nobody, nobody knows my pain
When I see that its risen, that full moon again

And ol' Igor told me man its this little flute I play
But I never play inthe light of day
(spoken: Well, when you do play your flute what do you play on your flute?)

Eeeee Eeeee Eeeee …
Eeeee Eeeee Eeeee …
