Levellers

Biography:

Levellers is a popular English rock band influenced by punk and traditional English music. The band is based in Brighton, England, where they were founded in 1988. There are several stories regarding how they got their name; from the Levellers, a radically democratic faction of Oliver Cromwell's New Model Army; as a reference to "The Level", a flat open space near where members of the band used to live in Brighton; or simply, according to guitarist, Simon Friend, a word they chose from a dictionary.

Great song from the Levellers 2012 album Static on the Airwaves.

Standard Tuning

E C D C (x2)

E C D C
I thought I heard a sound, of the speech on the wind.
E C D C
The smoulder of the smoke, hanging just above.
E C D C
And the darkest of thoughts, have the time to gather round.
E C D C
As gentle was the word, and the speech on the sound.

Chorus:
G D G D E
There's a place that's travelled far, always with you in your thoughts.

G D G D E
It's where your safe underground, waiting for the world with your song.

E C D C
And the colour of her hair, as it glides across her face.
E C D C
All thoughts of despair, never seemed so out of place.
E C D C
And it seems familiar, as the world echoes.
E C D C
Yeah, thinking of her, where you ought'a go.

Chorus:
G D G D E
There's a place that's travelled far, always with you in your thoughts.

G D G D E
It's where your safe underground, waiting for the world with your song.

Bridge:
G E
Stranded fish out of water,
G E
Struggling with all that they taught you.

Instrumental
G D G D E (x2)

E C D C
Siren of the state, after beaching down.
E C D C
Notice every word, have to touch the ground.
E C D C
You lift up your face, to every possibility.
E C D C
'Cause there has to be grace, as we journey that way.

Chorus:
G D G D E
There's a place that's travelled far, always with you in your thoughts.

G D G D E
It's where your safe underground, waiting for the world with your song.

G D G D E (x2)
