G Am Fmaj7
Doo dah dah dah dah dah

Am
He was the lone wolf, you could see it in his eyes
Fmaj7 Am
The way he held his heart, the way he held his lies
Am
Sometimes he'd just show up outside on the porch
Fmaj7 Am
An hour at a time, like a lonely whore

G Am Fmaj7
Doo doo doo doo doo dah
G Am Fmaj7
Doo doo doo doo dah dah

Am
And she was a scarecrow the way she always looked around
Fmaj7 Am
For something she once had and never could be found
Am
Time was on her side but she never kept track
Fmaj7 Am
And all the hunters came and took her memories back

G Am Fmaj7

G Am Fmaj7
Doo doo doo doo dah dah

Am
And once they met inside a dirty curtained room
Fmaj7 Am
And the rain fell down hard that day onto the tin roof
Am
She said "i've seen you before, well I've been looking for you
Fmaj7 Am
Better keep your heart close, hunters are coming for you"
Am
He said "i've seen them before and I always get away
Fmaj7 Am
Because you will never stop looking and I will never stay"

Am
The lone wolf kissed her mouth like so many before
Fmaj7 Am
Scarecrow closed her eyes and then she closed the door
Am
And the rain fell down on the tin roof when the hunters came that night
Fmaj7 Am
And they stole all of her memories, killed the wolf and all his lies
