Six O’Clock News – Kathleen Edwards

C Am F C (C Am F C)
Copper on the corner and he loaded two rounds
C Am F C (C Am F C)
And I can't even cross the line to talk you down
C Am F C (C Am F C)
And Peter, sweet baby, where'd you get that gun?
C Am F C (C Am F C)
You spend half your life trying to turn the other half around

F C
And I tried to come clean, but I guess it's no use
F C
Your face is all over six o'clock news
F C
They cleared the street and then they closed the schools
Dm F
I can't even get inside

(C Am F C) (C Am F C)

C Am F C (C Am F C)
Did you lose your head when the farm went down?
C Am F C (C Am F C)
Or was is when your daddy died after he moved to town
C Am F C (C Am F C)
And I know your momma calls you good for nothin’
C Am F C (C Am F C)
She says her baby is a failure and she don't want you callin’

Chorus

C Am F C (C Am F C)
And Peter, sweet baby, there's just something that I got ta say to you
C Am F C (C Am F C)
I’m gonna have your baby this coming June
C Am F C (C Am F C)
We could get a little place down by Gilmour Park
C Am F C (C Am F C)
You could do a little time and save my broken heart

Chorus

F C
And I tried to come clean, but I guess it's no use
F C
Copper went ahead and he just shot you through
F C
Now you're lying dead on the avenue
Dm F
I can't feel my broken heart
Dm F (C Am F C) (C Am F C)
And I can't feel my broken heart
