[Verse 1]
C/G Fmaj7/C
For six weeks straight
C/G Fmaj7/C
I've been staying up too late
Am
Book torn to pieces page by page
G Fmaj7/C
Nothing learned, nothing gained

[Verse 2]
C/G Fmaj7/C
but I've got no where to go
C/G Fmaj7/C
Threats on the city and the bridges are closed
Am G
Yesterday fell a full foot of snow
Fmaj7/C
from a slate black sky, a bright white glow

[Verse 3]

C/G Fmaj7/C
But I've been thinking of going west
C/G Fmaj7/C
Just to climb up as high as I can get
Am G
Press my soles to paths great men settin'
Fmaj7/C
Push me right out to the edge

[Verse 4]
C/G Fmaj7/C C/G Fmaj7/C
Cause I know inside I'll find my way back to the city sometime
Am
Feel the ground shake as a train goes by
G Fmaj7/C
Not a one star in the sky

[Solo]
C/G Fmaj7/C C/G Fmaj7/c Am G Fmaj7/c x2

[Verse 5]
C/G Fmaj7/C
My baby she just called and said
C/G Fmaj7/C
The midtown tunnel's opened
Am
So let's ride
C/G Fmaj7/C C/G Fmaj7/C C/G
And I said darling I just don't feel much like going to Brooklyn tonight

[Verse 6]
C/G Fmaj7/C
I should try to sleep
C/G Fmaj7/C
Lay me down and try to breathe
Am
Count each time my heart skips a beat
G Fmaj7/C
Not one light in the house but what comes in from the street
