Murdered Son

by John Mark Mcmillan
John Mark Mcmillan

Biography:

John Mark McMillan is an indie rock artist from Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, where he grew up playing in local rock bands. In June of 2005, McMillan released his first album, Hope Anthology Volume One. Just a few months after the release of this album, McMillan lost his best friend in a tragic accident, bringing him into a troubling time. It was the grief caused by this accident, and the subsequent rise from it, that inspired him to create his second anthology, The Song Inside The Sounds of Breaking Down.

As with most JMM songs, he plays the G as a Gsus4.

Capo 4
Verse 1
C G
You set us up above all the stars
F G
You set us on a high place by where You are
Am G
and while we were dead, You made us Your friends
F G F C
and scattered our debt upon the winds

Chorus
F C
Glory to One, God's murdered Son
F G F C
who paid for my resurrection

Verse 2
C G
Once from the dust, and once from the grave
F G
Daughters and sons from the ashes You've raised
Am G
and hidden our faults even from Your own face
F G F C
and scattered our debt upon the waves

Chorus x2

Bridge
C G Am F G
Glory to the One who overcame in death
C G Am F G
Glory to the One who paid for my offenses
C F Am (or Dm) F
Glory to the One, Glory to the One

(On the album, he plays C F Am F G progression, but live he always plays it
like this with the G after the C)

Verse 2
