[Intro] G - G/C - G* (2x)

[Verses]
G C
I went to a cobbler to fix a hole in my shoe
D C G G*
He took one look at my face and said, "I can fix that hole in you"

G C
I beg your pardon I'm not looking for a cure
D C G G*
Seen enough of my friends in the depths of the god-sick blues

Am G Am G
You know I am a liar You know I am a liar
Am C G*
Nobody helps a liar

G C
‘Cause I've been down to Dixie and dropped acid on my tongue
D C G G*
Tripped upon the land until enough was enough
G C
I was a little bit lighter and adventure on my sleeve
D C G G*
I was a little drunk and looking for company
G C
So I found myself a sweetheart with the softest of hands
D C G G*
We were unlucky in love but I'd do it all again

Am G Am G
We build ourselves a fire We build ourselves a fire
Am C G* Am C G*
You know I am a liar You know I am a liar
C- C/B- Am G*
And you don't know what I've done

G C
And by the rolling river is exactly where I was
D C G G*
There was no snake or cure for unlucky in love

G C D
To be lonely is a habit like smokin’ or taking drugs and I've quit them both
C G G*
But man, was it rough

Am G Am G
Now I am tired It just made me tired
Am C G*
Let's build ourselves a fire
Am C G*
Let's build ourselves a fire
