*Remove your finger from the string to play it openly. G string (third string) for the D chord and
B string (second string) for the C chord.

Please NOTE: Don't follow completely the upper tab. Just listen to the song to get the right strumming.
The tablature above is just a guidance. I strongly recommend to just listen to the song, feel it and you will
get the perfect strumming pattern.

[Verse 1]

For the four verses you can continue playing the intro with the same strumming pattern or just play the
chords.

D

D C
If I could crawl into a shell
D
Then I would a mile away
C D
Things are heavy enough already
D
And I really do think that's
C
The best that I can do
D
Stuck here and all

And I really do think that
C
Don't care at all

D C
Take a step forwards

Don't be afraid
D
Take a step backwards
C D
Don't be afraid
D
So go on
C
So look back
D
Stuck inside a heavy shell
C
Try to walk and not be pushed

[Chorus 1]

The chords for the chorus are G - A - D - G. There are some variations for the A and D chords that
I am showing in the tab below, however you can play them just normal and it sounds still very good.
You can play the variations if you want to sound it the most similar to the record as possible

G A A4 D Dsus2
e|--3---------0---------0---------2---------0---------|
B|--3---------2---------0---------3---------3---------|
G|--0---------2---------2---------2---------2---------|
D|--0---------2---------2---------0---------0---------|
A|--2---------0---------0-----------------------------|
E|--3-------------------------------------------------|

G A A4
And the man with no skin
D Dsus2 G
I would not let him in
G A D Dsus2 G
Would not let him sign off
G A A4
'Cause nobody wants to see
D Dsus2 G
A beating heart
G
Or a lung
A A4
Or a brain

D

[Verse 2]

D C
Used to get so caught up
D
Used to get so wrapped up
C
Now I find myself feeling
D
Disillusioned and emotionless
C
Like I've been betrayed
D
This world let me down
C
In a big way
D
Now I feel like a dog maimed
C
Picking at fleas

Picking at fleas

[Chorus 2]

G A A4
And the man with no skin
D Dsus2 G
I would not let him in
G A D Dsus2 G
Would not let him sign off
G A A4
'Cause nobody wants to see
D Dsus2 G
A beating heart
G
Or a lung
A A4
Or a brain

D

[Verse 3]

D
It's hard to walk
C
With broken legs
D
It gets hard to breathe
C
Without lungs
D
It's hard to love the world
C
Without a heart
D
What else should I cut out?
C
Where do I start?

[Chorus 3]

A new chord appears at the end of this chorus.

D/F#
e|---2----|
B|---3----|
G|---2----|
D|---x----|
A|---x----|
E|---2----|

G A A4
And the man with no skin
D Dsus2 G
I would not let him in
G A D Dsus2 G
Would not let him sign off
G A A4
'Cause nobody wants to see
D Dsus2 G
A beating heart
G
Or a lung
A A4
Or a brain

D Dsus2 G D/F#

[Verse 4]

D A
Start to grow a second skin
D Dsus2 G D/F#
To keep the insides in
G A A4 D Dsus2 G D/F#
This one is obviously not thick enough
D A
It's time to grow a second skin
D Dsus2 G D/F#
Keep the insides in
G A A4 D Dsus2 G D/F#
And maybe get some longer and mask(?)
G A A4 D Dsus2 G D/F#
And maybe get some longer and mask(?)
G A A4 D
And maybe get some longer and mask(?)

That's all. I hope this can be useful to anybody trying to learn the song. It's a beatiful theme. Please
comment if there's any doubt and rate. Thanks.
