[Verse 1]
C D7 F9 G
Well once I met a girl who had my measure from the start
C D7 F9 G
She tied me up in knots and then she tore me clean apart
C D7 F9 C G7 G
And I layed with her for years and years, but I never knew her heart for all I tried
C D7 F9 G
And the life we had was fiction, but it was a lie she told me well
C D7 F9 G
Advertising heaven as the price you pay for hell
C D7 F9 C G7 G
And I tried to make her feel my love long before Adele, oh how I tried
F C G Am7
And we put Zimmerman on Spotify and listened as he talked
F C G Am7
About how he gave that girl his heart, but she wanted his soul
F C G Am7
And I never understood that line, it didn't make no sense
Fadd9 Fmaj7
But when she went
G7
I saw what Bob Dylan meant

[Interlude]
C D7 F9 C G G7 G6
C D7 F9 C G G7 G6

[Verse 2]
C D7 F9 G
And once I knew a woman who broke just like a little girl
C D7 F9 G
Took our love and built with it a perfect little world
C D7 F9 C G7 G
And I still look back every day and wonder why it didn't work for all we tried
C D7 F9 G
And we gave it every inch of us and every ounce of love
C D7 F9 G
But even Dylan knows that sometimes love just ain't enough
C D7 F9 C G7 G
And baby tangled up in blue is all we ever ended up for all we tried
F C G Am7
But I think I could have loved her 'til I knocked on heavens door
F C G Am7
And she'll always be the one who gives me shelter from the storm
F C G Am7 Fmaj7
But you know, in the end it ain't me babe she was looking for and I saw
G7 C D7
What Bob Dylan thought
F9 C G G7 G6
What Bob Dylan thought yeah

[Interlude]
C D7 F9 C G G7 G6
C D7 F9 C G G7 G6

[Verse 3]
C D7 F9 G
And every break of every heart is just the start of some new art
C D7 F9 G
So when you build yourself together out of broken shattered parts
C D7 F9 G
Just remember that for every scar you took on a bad day
C D7 F9 G
You know you'll always be somebody else's one that got away
C D7 F9 G
Yeah you're changing and you're growing even if you don't quite know it
C D7 F9 G
And every tear is worth its salt yeah if it makes of you a poet
C D7 F9 G
So be grateful for the ones who blew away your best laid plans
C D7 F9 G Fmaj7
Through those levels you discovered with each touch of trembling hands you understand
G7 C D7
Why Bob Dylan sang
F9 C G C D7
Why Bob Dylan sang yeah, why Bob Dylan sang
F9 C G
Why Bob Dylan sang yeah
F9 G C
And I think I understand
