Giant Sand

Biography:

Giant Sand, originally The Giant Sandworms, is an American rock band formed in 1985, based in Tucson, Arizona, USA (although Los Angeles, California was its home for many years). Overseen by singer-songwriter-guitarist-pianist Howe Gelb, its membership has shifted over the years -- at times with each album -- though for a long while the drum and bass duties were handled by John Convertino and Joey Burns, who went on to form Calexico. Other members have included guitarist Rainer Ptacek

El Paso -> Out on the Weekend
Giant Sand

A Bm E7
Out in the West Texas town of El Paso - I fell in love with a
A Bm
Mexican girl. Nighttime would find me in Rose's Cantina,
E7 A
Music would play and Felina would twirl.

D A D A
One night a wild young cowboy came in - Wild as the West Texas
A7 A
wind. Dashing and daring, a drink they were sharing,
D
With wicked Felina, the girl that I love.

E7 A Bm
So in anger - I challenged his right for the heart of Felina
E7 A
Down went his hand for the gun that he wore.
A Bm
My challenge was answered, in no less than a heartbeat
E7 A
The handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor.

D A D A
Out through the back door of Rose's I ran, Out where the horses
A7
were tied. I found a good one; it looked like it could run,
D E
Up on its back and away I did ride ---->

A Bm
Now I think I’ll buy me a pick-up
E A
Make it out to L.A.
A Bm
Find a little place and try to fix up.
E A
Start a brand new day.

Bm E Bm E C#m F#7 Bm E

A Bm
She got pictures on the wall, they make me look up
E A
From her big brass bed.
A Bm
Now I'm running down the road trying to stay up
E A
Somewhere in her head.

A Bm
The woman I'm thinking of, she loved me all up
E A
But I'm so down today she's so fine, she's in my mind,
Bm E
I hear her callin'.

A Bm D A
See the lonely boy, out on the weekend - Trying to make it pay.
A Bm D A
Can't relate to joy, he tries to speak and - Can't begin to say.

A Bm
Something is dreadfully wrong for I feel as I crumble
A Bm
A deep burning pain in my side and blood everywhere
E7 A
I’m crumbled I see Felina she kneels down by my side
E D E A
Once more in the arms of my loved one and kiss Felina goodbye

A Bm D A
See the lonely boy, out on the weekend - Trying to make it pay.
A Bm D A
Can't relate to joy, he tries to speak and - Can't begin to say.

A Bm E A (x4)

It works and it's --> Wild!
