Eddplant

We Parted

by Eddplant
Eddplant

Biography:

Eddplant is a Folk Rock singer-songwriter who grew up in Birmingham and now lives in London.

Ed started playing guitar in secondary school, aged 11, inspired by rock giants Oasis and pop prince Robbie Williams. Soon he was writing original material, which he performed as part of a band with two friends. In 2005, Ed moved to Darlington where he was immersed in the North East folk scene. This developed his playing and lyrical style, as his influences grew to include various folk and folk rock artists.

First verse (picked)

B Fm E
Late at night in good company,
B Fm E
we talked of idleness and injury
B Fm E
Problems and feelings shared
B Fm E
now more than halved
B Fm
The stereo, two rooms away
E
repeated songs we’d hear again
B Fm
and every song became
E
a song about love

G# Fm
You were hesitant, and I was naive
G# Fm
I was adamant, and you had to concede
E
We were close,
G#
but not as close as we
Fm
might have come to be

B Fm
One thing led to another,
E
as the song always goes,
B Fm
and we lay there in bed
E
down to the last of our clothes
B Fm E
And by the way I tried to say I love you,

B Fm E
I held you close and gave you sympathy,
B Fm E
such little thanks for all you did for me
B Fm E
But mine’s a caring heart,
B Fm E
and yours was broken

B Fm
The stereo, two rooms away
E
repeated songs we’d hear again
B Fm
and every song became
E
a song about love

B Fm
One thing led to another,
E
as the song always goes,
B Fm
and we lay there in bed
E
down to the last of our clothes
B Fm E
And by the way I tried to say I love you,
B Fm
but the words got jumbled up
E
and I just kissed you again
B Fm E
And it was over before it started,
B
and we parted
