Craig Campbell

You Can Come Over

by Craig Campbell
Craig Campbell

Biography:

The Family Man Songfacts says that Georgian native Craig Campbell had already been playing piano at his mother's church since the age of 10 when he formed his band called Out of the Blue. In 2002 Campbell moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he landed a steady gig at The Stage, one of the biggest clubs in the city's famed Lower Broadway and recorded demo sessions for other singers. After meeting and befriending fellow Georgian Luke Bryan, Campbell was persuaded to start writing his own songs.

You Can Come Over
Written by Brandy Clark, Jesse Jo Dillon & Mark Narmore
Recorded by Craig Campbell
[No Capo]

[Intro] x2
G C

[Verse]
C Am G
You can come over, we can sit on my front porch, we can take a walk
C Am G
When it gets colder, we can climb in my truck, yeah, we can talk
B7 Em D C D
Sit up all night if you like, I just can't let your restless feet find my front steps

[Chorus]
G D/F# Em D
It'd be too easy to throw open that door
C Bm Am D
And go where we've gone too many times before
C Bm B7 Em
You'd stay just long enough to leave me again
D Am D G C
So you can come over, but you can't come in

C Am G
I'd put on that record, you'd give me that look, oh, you know the one
C Am G
Girl, I can betcha by the end of that first verse, the damage would be done
B7 B7/D# Em D C D
One glass of wine always leads to two when it comes to me and you

[Chorus]
G D/F# Em D
It'd be too easy to throw open that door
C Bm Am D
And go where we've gone too many times before
C Bm B7 Em
You'd stay just long enough to leave me again
D Am D D# Em
So you can come over, but you can't come in

Am
And pretend like we're just a couple old friends
Bm C Bm Am
Like you don't know how our sto- ry ends

[Outro]
C Bm B7 B7/D# Em
You'd stay just long enough to leave me again
D Am D
So you can come over, 'til I get over you
G C G C G
You can't come in, you can't come in
