Craig Campbell

Truck

by Craig Campbell
Craig Campbell

Biography:

The Family Man Songfacts says that Georgian native Craig Campbell had already been playing piano at his mother's church since the age of 10 when he formed his band called Out of the Blue. In 2002 Campbell moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he landed a steady gig at The Stage, one of the biggest clubs in the city's famed Lower Broadway and recorded demo sessions for other singers. After meeting and befriending fellow Georgian Luke Bryan, Campbell was persuaded to start writing his own songs.

[Verse 1]
A
Just blew through another red light
D A D
But the cop on the corner was sippin? his coffee
A
The speed limit might say 35
D A D
But 65 is where he woulda clocked me
A
On the way picking up my baby
D
She?s sitting on the front porch waitin?
A G D
And when I get there don't you know
D
Gonna get in the truck-n-

[Chorus]
A
Roll like the Mississippi
D
Slow like sipping on whiskey?
A D
Go around the world on a country road
A
And who knows where we might end up
D
Lord knows we?re gonna have a sho nuff
E D
Good time no matter where we go
D A D A D
When we get in the truck-n-roll, roll

[Verse 2]
A
Just gimme four wheels and a little two-lane
D A D
My baby?s gonna be my little wildflower
A
And gimme that radio playin? George Strait
D A D
Cause I know she?ll wanna turn it up louder
A
Where the black top winds through the pastures
D
I'll be takin? those right curves faster
A G D
Cause I want that pretty girl sittin? real close
D
When we get in the truck-n-

[Chorus]
A
Roll like the Mississippi
D
Slow like sipping on whiskey
A D
Go around the world on a country road
A
And who knows where we might end up
D
Lord knows we?re gonna have a sho nuff
E D
Good time no matter where we go
A D
When we get in the truck-n-roll

[Bridge]
E
Somewhere we might pull off
E
Out there where the whippoorwill calls
E D
Grab a sleepin? bag if that?s what she wants
A D
And let it unroll while we?re sippin? on whiskey
A D
And take it slow like the Mississippi
D A D
When we get in the truck-n-roll

[Chorus]
A
Roll like the Mississippi
D
Slow like sipping on whiskey
A D
Go around the world on a country road
A
And who knows where we might end up
D
Lord knows we?re gonna have a sho nuff
E D
Good time no matter where we go
D A D
When we get in the truck-n-roll
D A D
When we get in the truck-n-roll
D A D
Hop up in the truck-n-roll, yeah
