Biography:

Connie Smith (born Constance June Meador 14 August 1941, in Elkhart, Indiana) is an American country music singer. She is best known for her 1964 hit song "Once a Day", which spent 8 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Country music charts, the longest of any female country music artist in history. In less than a year, Connie Smith moved from being a small-town Ohio housewife to country stardom with a number one single to her credit.

This tiny blue transistor radio

We stayed up late and listened to the music soft and low

F C G7 C
On the tiny blue transistor radio

F C
And the man at the radio station made a special dedication

D7 G7
To Jimmy and the girl that he loves so

C G7 C F G7
We kissed each other gently as we listened so intently

F C G7 C
To the tiny blue transistor radio

C G7 C F G7
And now just one year later his love for me is gone

F C G7 C
He's out tonight with his new love I know

C G7 C F G7
And I just heard them playing the one we called our song

F C G7 C
On the tiny blue transistor radio

F C
And the man at the radio station made a special dedication

D7 G7
To Jimmy and the girl that he loves so

C G7 C F G7
Her happy eyes are glistening while my sad heart is listening

To the tiny blue transistor radio
