Biografia:
Helen Folasade Adu nasceu em uma cidadezinha nas vizinhanças de Lagos, capital da Nigéria, em 16 de Janeiro de 1959. Filha de pai africano (Bisi Adu) e mãe inglesa (Anne Hayes), Sade cresceu no North End de Londres.
Sua formação musical é de diva do jazz, muito mais do que do pop: ouvia Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Al Green, Aretha Franklin e Billie Holliday. E, a grande influência confessa, a brasileira Astrud Gilberto.
