Richard Marx, nasceu a 16 de setembro de 1963 em Winnetka, Illinois State (na região dos Grandes Lagos), nos Estados Unidos.
Seu nome verdadeiro é Richard Marx Noël. Ele é casado com Cynthia Rodes, cantora, dançarina e atriz e tem 3 filhos: Brandon, Luke e Jesse.
Ele começou sua carreira musical como um assistente, fazendo os vocais para os artistas da estatura de Lionel Ritchie, Kenny Rogers e Madonna, entre outros.
