Tree es mejor conocido por ser un "artista que es en parte un meme y en parte algo menos definible". A menudo escribe, actúa y dirige videos de comedia y ha trabajado con compañías como Fuck Jerry.
Tree creció en Santa Cruz. Tomó lecciones de piano a los tres años, escribiendo canciones al año siguiente y un álbum a los seis años.
