O quarteto The American Analog Set vem de Austin, no Texas, para apresentar mais um disco residual de uma pop feita em pedaços. “Promise of Love” é o quinto trabalho de uma formação que se constituiu a partir das cinzas dos Electric Company em 1994. Bastou uma segunda digressão para que a banda conseguisse um contrato com a Emperor Jones, editora local subsidiária da Trance Syndicate, esta dirigida por King Coffey, baterista pelos Butthole Surfers.
