Biografia:
O R.E.M. é uma banda estadunidense de rock formada em Athens, na Geórgia, em 1980. Seu nome é uma referência ao estágio de sono REM.
Através da década de 1980 a banda trabalhou sem descanso, lançando álbuns anualmente por sete anos consecutivos, do seu EP de estréia de 1982 Chronic Town até o álbum de 1988 Green. Seu estilo punk rock e art rock inspirado da década de 1970 o permitiu estabelecer-se como elemento central da cena do rock alternativo da década de 1980.
