Biografia:
Em 1992, a banda "Soil" é fundada por Serj Tankian e Daron Malakian, em Glendale, na Califórnia. Além de Serj (Vocal) e Daron (Guitarra), a banda é constituída também por Dave Hakopyan (Baixo) e Domingo Laranio (Bateria). Todos são descendentes de armênios.
Em 1994, Dave e Domingo abandonam a banda, pois acham que ela não fará sucesso. Shavo Odadjian, empresário da banda, assume o baixo, enquanto que a bateria é ocupada por Ontronik "Andy" Khachaturian.
