Biografia:
O Soul Asylum, formado por Dan Murphy na guitarra, Karl Mueller no baixo e Dave Pirner na bateria com o nome de Loud Fast Rules em 1981 na cidade de Minneapolis, teve sua primeira baixa três anos depois, com a mudança de Pirner para a guitarra e vocal, tendo em seu lugar o baterista Grant Young. Com está formação lançam o disco Say What You Will, Clarence... Karl Sold the Truck, já com o nome de Soul Asylum, pelo selo Twin Tone.
