Klaatu

A Routine Day

por Klaatu
Klaatu

Biografia:

Capitol recording artists Klaatu have remained an enigma since their debut album in August, 1976. The identities of the band's members have become one of the best-kept secrets in the recording industry, but as of Monday June 9, 1980 the reclusive group came out of the closet to prove that they're alive and kicking.

The info is just beginning to filter in: Klaatu is John Woloschuk, Dee Long, and Terry Draper. All three are in their mid-twenties and are Toronto-born and raised.

This is the first song from the Klaatu album "Sir Army Suit". Written by John Woloschuk.
I'm not sure who the vocalist is, but it sounds a lot like Bono to me.

[Verse #1:]
F C Bbdim
It started off a routine day
Dm E7sus4 E
I got through the morning in the usual way
Bbsus2 Bbmb5
I caught the bus on time
Am Am7/G D
Good morning, Mr. Driver, drive
Bb Bbsus2 Bb(b5)
As I sat inside my overcoat I clutched my cane
Am/C Bbdim Dm Am7 F Bb/C
And pressed my nose against the foggy window pane Ho hum
C/E E7 F Bb Bbsus2 Bbm11
The life I lead would even make a dead man yawn

[Verse #2:]
Dm Dm/C
Midday comes
C Bbdim
I break for lunch
Dm Dm7/C E7sus4 E
With my sandwich and a beer I go on a hunch
Bb Bbsus2 Bbmb5
To the park where I hope to find
Am Am/G D
A little bit of peace of mind
Bb Bbsus2 Bb(b5)
As I sat there on a bench amidst the rodent race
Am Bbdim Dm Am7 F Bb/C
I felt a strange sensation that without a trace appeared
C/E C7sus2 E7 F
But then as quickly disappeared again

[Break]
E|--------------------------|
B|------1-3-1---------------|
G|------------3-2-----------|
D|---3------------3-2-------|
A|-3------------------3-2-1-|
E|--------------------------|

[Bridge:]
Bb G6/B G7/B
So tell me what's the bloody point of playing the game
F Am Eb D
With so much to lose yet so little to gain
Bb C7 F
You sell your life away

[Break]
E|--------------------------|
B|------1-3-1---------------|
G|------------3-2-----------|
D|---3------------3-2-------|
A|-3------------------3-2-1-|
E|--------------------------|

Bb G6/B G7/B
Can't you see you're just a cog working like a dog
F Am Eb D
You trade your future for a dead-end job
Bb G7 C
That's full of routine days
C
Routine days

[Verse #3:]
F6 F C Bbdim
I race the clock to the end of my day
Dm Dm7/C E7sus4 E
The paycheck in my pocket makes me feel okay
Bb Bsus2 Bbmb5
But was it worth the grind
Am Am7/G D9 D
Just to keep from falling behind
Bb Bbsus2 Bb(b5)
I stand here in the queue behind a foul cigar
Am Bbdim Dm Am F Bb/C
My face discreetly buried in a book on Mars Hum drum
C/E C7sus2 E7 F Bb Bbsus2 Bbm11 F
And I'm waiting on the pier 'til Charon comes
