Jessica Rose James nasceu no dia 12 de abril de 1988 em uma base militar na Itália, ainda nova se mudou para os Estados Unidos e morou no estado da Georgia grande parte de sua vida.
Em 2007 Jessie James assinou um contrato com a gravadora Island Def Jam/MercuryRecords. O seu single de estréia entitulado "Wanted" foi co-escrito pela jurada do American Idol Kara Dioguardi e foi lançado em abril nas rádios americanas e atingiu a posição #40 no Billboard Hot 100.
