James Keelaghan

The Ones Who Made Home

por James Keelaghan
James Keelaghan

Biografia:

James Keelaghan is a Juno award-winning Canadian folk singer-songwriter born in Calgary, Alberta, now based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Many of his songs, such as "Kiri's Piano", about the interment of Japanese Canadians, "October 70", about the FLQ crisis, are inspired by events and figures in Canadian history. Known for his lilting baritone voice, his driving rhythm guitar, and a keen sense of scene and narrative, Keelaghan’s music bridges traditional folk music with Canadiana.

CAPO: 2nd Fret

INTRO: G D G C G D G C G D G C G D G

D G C
From the banks of [Bell Isle] to the Manhattan Canyon
G D G C
[ ? ? ? ? ] to work in high steel
G D G
All of the roads we all have to roam
C D G
Well, let's drink to the ones that made home

D G C
From the corner of Main to the ridge north of Sixty
G D G C
And the wheel of a combine to [push in the two]
G D G
The back lane, the back road, the places unknown
C D G
Well, let's drink to the ones that made home

BRIDGE:
C G D G
Many are leaving, seek out their stories
C G D
Their fortunes and fates are well known
C G D G
There's one thing they crave more than riches and glory
A7 D
That they find some place that's their own

G D G C
From the Welfare Hotel to the Single Men's Hostel
G D G C
The [bare reds/berets] and shelters, the laws on the street
G D G
They don't need your pity and they can't be disowned
C D G
So, let's drink to the ones that made home

INSTRUMENTAL: G D G C G D G C G D C D G

D G C
From the banks of [Bell Isle] to the Manhattan Canyon
G D G C
[ ? ? ? ? ] to work in high steel
G D G
All of the roads we all have to roam
