Biografia:
Nascida numa família pobre de Kingston, Jamaica, que tinha quinze filhos, Diana King fugiu de casa ainda adolescente, quando os pais descobriram seus dotes de cantora de rhythm & blues, o que para eles era coisa do demônio. Conheceu o rei do dancehall, Shabba Ranks, e logo passou a acompanhá-lo em turnês, fazendo backing vocals. Em 1995, por influência de Shabba, conseguiu um contrato com a Epic, subsidiária da Sony Music, gravando o álbum Tougher Than Love.
