Biografia:
Nasceu a quatro de dezembro de 1955 em Jackson, Mississipi. Cassandra Wilson é uma das maiores cantoras de jazz dos anos 90, uma vocalista abençoada por uma distinta e flexível voz e que não tem medo de se arriscar.
Ela começou tocando piano e guitarra quando tinha nove anos e esteve trabalhando como vocalista em meados de 70, cantando uma enorme variedade de rítmos e estilos musicais.
Depois de um ano em New Orleans, Wilson se mudou para New York em 1982 e começou trabalhando com Dave Holland e Abbey Lincoln.
