Aneka (cujo nome real é Mary Sandeman) nasceu em 20 de novembro de 1954. Lançou apenas um álbum em toda a sua carreira, um álbum auto intitulado no ano de 1981.
O grande hit de sua carreira foi a música "Japanese Boy", que alcançou a primeira posição na Billboard. Outras músicas foram lançadas como single, mas não obtiveram grande sucesso nos EUA, apenas no Reino Unido.
