Alexander "Alex" Newell (nascido em 20 de agosto de 1992) vem cantando desde que ele era uma criança. Ele perdeu o pai aos 6 anos de idade - e a atuação e o canto ajudaram-o a expressar suas emoções desde então. Fez atividades extracurriculares que incluem coro da igreja, coral da escola, clube de improvisação, e clube de figurino. Alex vive em Lynn, MA e entrou para o The Glee Project através de um vídeo no YouTube.
