Keyshia Cole nasceu em Outubro de 1981 na Califórnia, sua mãe é de origem Africana e seu pai é Italiano. A cantora é orfã de pai e sua mãe vive o dilema do vício das drogas, o que fez com que fosse adotada por outra família aos 04 anos de idade. A vertente musical é latente na família da cantora, além dela, seu irmão Sean Cole também é talentoso musicalmente e têm influências quando o assunto é R&B e Hip Hop, o que ajudou o começo da carreira da cantora.
