Influenciado por bandas de classic rock, como The Who, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC e os Sex Pistols. Jones é conhecido por sua forte voz grave, que tem sido descrita como "whiskey vocal" ou algo como "vocal uísque", por seu tonalidade mais grave e rouca. Como letrista, Jones é influenciado por Neil Young, Bob Dylan e Otis Redding.
