Deftones é uma banda de metal alternativo formada na cidade de Sacramento, Califórnia, Estados Unidos no ano de 1988. A singularidade, a criatividade e o experimentalismo da banda fazem com que ela se distancie do rótulo de nu metal, e seu som é geralmente definido, inclusive por muitos fãs mundo afora, como metal e rock experimental.
Seu som único mistura distorções pesadas, vocais agressivos e melódicos alternantes, o uso de sons eletrônicos de fundo e letras intimistas tendendo ao minimalismo.
