Os Chapterhouse foram formados em 1987 por Andrew Sherriff (vocalista e guitarrista), Stephen Patman (guitarrista e vocalista), Simon Rowe (guitarra), Jon Curtis (baixista) e Ashley Bates (baterista), em Reading, Reino Unido.
