Biografia:
Blind Willie Johnson nasceu em 1897 em Marlin, Texas.
Quando tinha apenas cinco anos, queria ser pastor. Sua mãe morreu quando ele era jovem.
Ganhou uma guitarra de doze cordas de seu pai, que passou a déixá-lo frequentemente numa esquina para ganhar dinheiro. Foi assim que ele começou a aprender os acordes musicais. Willie Johnson não nasceu cego e não se sabe ao certo como perdeu a visão.
Acredita-se que Johnson casou duas vezes, sua primeira mulher, tinha o mesmo primeiro nome que ele, Willie B.
