Avalanche City é uma banda folk de Auckland, Nova Zelândia. O grupo era originalmente um projeto solo de Dave Baxter; entretanto, depois de lançar seu primeiro álbum "Our New Life Aboce The Ground" ele juntou um grupo de músicos, Ben Duncan na bateria; Johnny Brock no bass; Ben Tolich nos teclados e manjo; Strahan Cole na guitarra elétrica, manjo, ukulele e backing vocals e Romelli Rodriguez no violino, carrilhão, acordeon e percussão. Baxter completou seu álbum, e então colocou para download na internet.
