Benjamin Ivan Jelen, mais conhecido como Ben Jelen, nasceu em 8 de Julho de 1979, em Edimburgo, na Escócia,.È cantor, compositor, toca piano, violino e violão. Ele viveu na Escócia, Inglaterra, Texas, Nova Jersey e Nova York.
Jelen freqüentou a escola secundária em San Antonio, Texas, resumidamente, como um calouro em Saúde Carreiras Northside High School. Ele completou o ensino médio em Princeton, Nova Jersey e formou-se na Rutgers University, com uma licenciatura em Biologia.
