Will Young Venceu a primeira edição do concurso de televisão britânico "Pop Idol" no dia 9 de Fevereiro de 2002.Arrecadou 4,6 milhões de votos por parte do público, pelo que mesmo antes de se lançar numa carreira musical a sério já era mais popular do que muitos que batalham em cima do palco há anos.
Young estudou política na Exeter University antes de se mudar de Hungerford, em Berks, para Londres. Nessa altura já encarava a música como uma perspectiva de futuro profissional
