Biografia:
Rene Wendy (Mary Frieson Cruz) Foi uma cantora de soul/R&b. Em sua carreira ainda adolescente foi membro do grupo The Drapels que teve seu contrato assinado pela Stax Records. O grupo era formado por Wendy, o irmão Johnnie Frierson, Marion Brittenum amigo, e Wilbur Mondie.
Mary precisava de um estúdio e de um nome e várias opções apareceram incluindo o nome "Wendy Storm" sugerido pelo executivo Deannie Parker. Eventualmente, Mary's surgiu com o nome de Wendy René. E só começou a usar esse nome regularmente quando virou artista solo.
