Biografia:
Unknown Mortal Orchestra é uma banda americana/neozelandesa de rock composta pelo trio Ruban Nielson (guitarra e vocais), Jake Portrait (baixo) e Riley Geare (bateria). A banda teve início em 2010, quando lançou seu primeiro single "Ffunny Ffriends" na internet.
Ruban é originário da Nova Zelândia, mas se mudou para os EUA com a sua banda The Mint Chicks. UMO era apenas um projeto onde Ruban podia esquecer o atual formato da música e fazer o que ele quisesse. O resultado foi algo que trazia um som lo-fi com uma pegada pop dos anos 60.
