Biografia:
Formada em 1989, na pequena cidade de Oss, Países Baixos, tinha uma proposta voltada para o metal extremo, com nítidas influências dos grupos Hellhammer e Celtic Frost. The Gathering é atualmente um dos ícones de uma das facetas do rock que mais se expandem e que a imprensa rotulou de atmospheric music.
O título já se estabeleceu. São bandas que desenvolvem sons mais calmos, melodiosos, lentos, beirando as fronteiras da new age, mas sem tanta ênfase nas partes eletrônicas e com raízes metal bastante aparentes.
