Contavam com grandes músicas feitas pelos compositores Jerry Leiber and Mark Stoller que escreveram especialmente para banda músicas como ''Yakety Yak'' e ''Charlie Brown'' (os mesmos compositores que escreveram várias músicas para Elvis como ''Hound Dog'' e ''Don't''). Eles formaram a banda como ''The Robbins'' em Los Angeles, com um som R&B, foi de 1954 até 1955.
