The Boomtown Rats

Banana Republic

por The Boomtown Rats
The Boomtown Rats

Biografia:

A seriously easy version of this tune, as most of the song is in the bass line,
but, if you lift your middle finger as you play the C chord, and put a bit
of reggae rhythm into the strumming, you'll do fine

Also, note when this song was written, and how it's about the church and police
in Ireland colluding to get away with atrocities, put's a new spin on an old
pop song.

Anyway, Might be of use to someone,

BANANA REPUBLIC

Dm C
Banana republic, Septic Isle
Dm C
Screamin' in the sufferin' sea, Sounds like, Cry, Cry, Cry
Dm C
Everywhere I go, Yeah, Everywhere I see
Dm G
The black and blue uniforms, Police and priests

Dm C
And I wonder do you wonder, While you're sleeping with your whore
Dm C
Sharing beds with history, Is like a-licking running sores
Dm C
Forty shades of green yeah, Sixty shades o'red
Dm G
Heroes going cheap these days, Price a bullet in the head

Dm C
Banana republic, Septic Isle
Dm C
Suffer in the screamin' sea, Sounds like, Die, Die, Die
Dm C
Everywhere I go, Yeah, Everywhere I see
Dm G
The black and blue uniforms, Police and priests

Dm C
Take your hand and lead ya, Up the garden path
Dm C
Let me stand aside here, And watch ya pass
Dm C
Strikin' up The Soldiers Song, I know that tune
Dm G
It begs too many questions, And answers too

Dm C
Banana republic, Septic Isle
Dm C
Suffer in the screamin' sea, Sounds like, Die, Die, Die
Dm C
Everywhere I go, Yeah, Everywhere I see
Dm G
The black and blue uniforms, Police and priests

Dm C
The purple and the pinstripe, They mutely shake their heads
Dm C
A silence shriekin' volumes, Violence worse than they condemn
Dm C
Stab ya in the back, Yeah, Laughing in your face
Dm G
Glad to see the place again, It's a pity nothings changed

Dm C
Banana republic, Septic Isle
Dm C
Suffer in the screamin' sea, Sounds like, Die, Die, Die
Dm C
Everywhere I go, Yeah, Everywhere I see
Dm G
The black and blue uniforms, Police and priests
