Biografia:
A banda foi formada em 1999 no subúrbio parisiense de Versailles, dentro do mesmo movimento do qual nasceu Air e Daft Punk no fim dos anos 90. Phoenix começou com um remix de "Kelly Watch the Stars" do Air. Eles rapidamente se tornaram um sucesso graças ao som underground loungy/mellow e do despretensioso álbum de 2000 - United.
Seu maior hit, "Too Young" ( na trilha sonora do filme Lost in Translation, de Sofia Coppola) impulsionou o álbum com força suficiente para conseguir um contrato para um segundo álbum em 2004: Alphabetical.
