Bristol, Inglaterra, é a terra natal do trip-hop, estilo musical marcado por sons distantes, sob uma batida hipnotizante e vocais melancólicos. Portishead é o nome de uma cidade da Costa Ocidental de Bristol, onde Geoff Barrow, o fundador da banda que leva o mesmo nome da cidade, cresceu. Geoff nunca gostou muito da vida exageradamente calma que levava em Portishead, e ainda muito jovem deixou a cidade para ir trabalhar num estúdio de gravação no coração de Bristol.
