[Verse]
G
Well the Mississippi flows through the southland
C Em Am
In many a song and rhyme
C G
And I guess I’d do well ta’ visit the delta
C D7
Someday if I get the time.
G
But in the land of sky blue waters
C Em Am
She loved me then she turned me loose
C G D G D7
With the other end of the Mississippi River blues
G
They got the blues down in Louisiana
C Em Am
they sing them up in Memphis town
C
where the muddy water flows
G
and everybody knows
C D7
Its the cradle of that mournful sound
G
ah, but somewhere up near Lake Itasca
C Em Am
where the mighty river starts to move
C G D G D7
I got the other end of the Mississippi River blues
D7
They got the honeysuckle vines
Gmaj7
I got the lonesome pines
D7
They got banjos on the levee
Gmaj7
I got a heart that’s cold and heavy
C Em Am
Yeah it all ends up in New Orleans
C D7
But this is where it all begins

G
You can travel the wide world over
C Em Am
anywhere you care to roam
C G
But if you ever go ta’ Northern Minnesota
C D7
Better leave your heart at home
G
‘cause she’ll love then she’ll leave you crying
C Em Am
and brother you’ll be introduced
C G D G D7
to the other end of the Mississippi River blues

D7
They got Magnolia Trees,
Gmaj7
Sweet southern breeze
D7
I got ice and snow,
Gmaj7
Twenty-six below
C Em Am
but it all ends up in New Orleans
C D7 (Hold and pause)
But this is where it all begins
G
You can travel the wide world over
C Em Am
anywhere you’d care to roam
C G
But if you ever go ta’ Northern Minnesota
C D7
Better leave your heart at home
G
‘cause she’ll love then she’ll leave you crying
C Em Am
with a feeling that you can’t shake loose
C G D G G
Its the other end of the Mississippi River blues
C G D G Gmaj7
Its the other end of the Mississippi River blues
