Nightmare and The Cat

Little Poet

por Nightmare and The Cat
Nightmare and The Cat

Biografia:

Relatively new and unknown to the music scene, Nightmare and the Cat are our favorite new indie-folk band.

Claire Acey and brothers Django and Samuel Stewart form the 3-piece band, whose Facebook bio states, “We are Nightmare and the Cat… and that is that.”

Fresh from the cult London music scene, they have soft vocals reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, an indie pop vibe like that of The Thrills or Vampire Weekend, and instrumental skills like only Arcade Fire can match.

[Intro]
D Bm D Bm x2

[Verse 1]
D Bm D Bm
You’ve broken every rebel but you couldn’t brake a bill
D Bm D Bm
You revel in your nightmares and appreciate the still
D Bm D Bm
No one really know’s you but you want to hear your name
D Bm D Bm
What’s wrong now little poet? You’ve only got yourself to blame
G F#m Em G F#m Em D Bm D Bm
Because you can’t live of love, not new or old anymore…

[Verse 2]
D Bm D Bm
The pavements hold the cracks that you kissed yesterday
D Bm D Bm
But today is walking too fast you can’t give 'em the time of day
D Bm D Bm
So ring little poet, yeah ring about your rain
D Bm D Bm
Until your bones are dried out by the harsher sun of day
G F#m Em G F#m Em D Bm D Bm
Because you can’t live of love, not new or old anymore… anymore

[Verse 3]
A
I’m being sunburned through your windows and I’d gladly lick your floor
G F#m Em G F#m Em
I’m just saying little poet, each day I love you more
A
And I won’t cry, I won’t cry when the clouds burst
A G F#m Em
I will stick my head up proud and taste November’s rain
G F#m Em D Bm D Bm
Which happens to be sour, again

[Verse 4]
D Bm D Bm
See how you have tortured everyone who cares
D Bm D Bm
Our hearts are in our hands now while you get all the stares
D Bm D Bm
Bleeding out the answers to questions you are scared
D Bm D Bm
To ask for protection or a helping hand to lend
G F#m Em G F#m Em
But then dedication ain’t the same as protection
D Bm D Bm
Yeah how do you feel about that?

[Verse 5]
D Bm
You’re so good at pointing fingers and backing out of corners
D Bm
Darting poison with your tongue, are you the money or the man?
D Bm D Bm
Award shows in your mirror, carelessness not fear, I swear…
A
And yet im scolded through your window and I’d gladly lick your floor
G F#m Em G F#m Em
I’m just saying little daydream, each night I love you more
A
And I won’t cry, I won’t cry when the sun bursts, I will stick my tongue out proud
G F#m Em G F#m Em
And taste December’s rain, which happens to be sour
G F#m Em G F#m Em
Oh yeah it happens to be sour, I guess it just happens to be sour
D Bm D Bm
Again

[Outro]
D Bm D Bm D
