Biografia:
Maritime formada em 2003 das cinzas do The Promise Ring e The Dismemberment Plan. Após o término dessas duas bandas, o cantor / guitarrista Davey von Bohlen, o baterista Dan Didier (da The Promise Ring) e o baixista Eric Axelson (da The Dismemberment Plan) se juntaram e começaram uma banda chamada In English. O grupo rapidamente assinou um contrato com a gravadora, ANTI-, e contratou J. Robbins para produzir seu disco. Robbins já havia produzido registros, tanto para The Promise Ring e O Plano de Desmembramento.
