Biografia:

John Anthony Genzale Jr. Nasceu em 15 de julho de 1952 em New York, Formou em 1971 com seus companheiros de colegio a banda pre-punk New York Dolls, era vocalista e guitarrista.
Após sair do New York Dolls, formou a banda Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers com Jerry Nolan (bateria no New York Dolls), Richard Hell (baixo no Television) que depois de pouco tempo saiu para formar Richard Hell and the Voidoids sendo substituido por Billy Rath. Walter Lure que foi incorporado a banda após a primeira apresentação.
