[Intro]
F

[Verse 1]
F
Mr. Murphy gathered us around
F
Put us in the dying field
F
He said, "Men, it's been a bad year around here"
F
He said we should play a little game
F
To alleviate this pain
F
So he grabbed my pop by the neck
F
I guess my pop played his game

[Spoken]
F
See y'all, me myself, I was just watchin' the men scuffle their boots on the ground
F
And lookin' dog-faced, not lookin' one-another in the eye.
F
An' see, me myself, I was ducked down behind this dirt pile and
F
Not understandin' this game that was goin' on
F
until Mr. Murphy, until he caught my eye

[Chorus]
Dm C Dm
And if you see my ma today, down upon you, I'll bring my pain again
C
All your cattle, I will hang
Dm C Dm
And if you see my ma today, down upon you, I'll bring my pain again
C Am Bb
All your crops, they'll go, they'll go away

[Verse 2]
F
So I ran seven miles out to Murphy's farm
F
I threw a rock at the window
F
And Isabella Murphy, she sauntered down the stairs
F
She grabbed my wrists, she said "Let's go"
F
And then she pulled me out to the dying field
F
Pushed me down and straddled me there
F
Then I cupped my hands between her crotch
F
Caught the water from her hair

[Spoken]
F
And with my hands cupped, holdin' Isabella's water, I shoved her out of the way
F
And I ran seven miles back into my hometown. I came to the town well,
F
Held my hands, cupped with Isabella's water high, opened 'em up,
F
And now this town, it knows the Murphy's hell

[Chorus]
Dm C Dm
And if you see my ma today, down upon you, I'll bring my pain again
C
All your cattle, I will hang
Dm C Dm
And if you see my ma today, down upon you, I'll bring my pain again
C Am Bb
Oh, your daughter, she will, she'll learn my name
Dm C
And I'll hang your cattle
Dm C
And I'll bleed your pork
Dm C
And I'll shave your chickens
Dm C
And I'll piss on your porch

N.C.
Yeah we don't
Dm
Drink the pain
N.C.
Yeah we don't
C
Drink the pain
N.C.

And if you see my ma today, down upon you, I'll bring my pain again

All your children, they will, they'll come away
