A história de Groove Coverage começa no verão de 2001. O single de lançamento Are U Ready escala o topo das listas alemãs, surpreendendo seus criadores Axel Konrad e Ole Wierk.
Depois disso Axel and Ole conhecem, através de amigos, uma cantora chamado Mell, juntamente com Markus a.k.a DJ Novus, passa então a cantar o próximo single Moonlight Shadow, uma versão cover do hit dos anos 80 de Mike Oldfield´s. Este single entra para o Media Control Alemão na posição 8 e sobe para a posição 3
