Harvey Andrews

Biografia:

Harvey Andrews (born Harvey John Andrews, May 7, 1943 in Birmingham) is an English singer, songwriter, and poet.

From 1964, Andrews supported his nascent career as a singer/songwriter by working as a schoolteacher, before becoming a full-time professional musician in 1966.

His emotive The Soldier transmits the same quiet desperation of a soldier about to die "in conflict" as Wilfred Owen's Dulce Et Decorum Est

Harvey Andrews - The Way We Lived Then

CAPO: 4th Fret

[Intro]
Em D Em D

[Verse 1]
Em D
Caviar on the table, Champagne in the glass
Em D
We laughed and we jeered at the poor working class
Em D
We drank to their ruin, we drank to their shame
G B7
We pissed on their problems, said they were to blame
Em D
Oh, the way we lived then, the way we lived then
Em
The way we lived then

[Verse 2]
Em D
Jason wore braces and slicked his hair down
Em D
Ben had the number of each deb in town
Em D
I was a member of every new club
G B7
And I used my gold card to pay every sub
Em D
For the way we lived then, the way we lived then
Em
The way we lived then

[Chorus]
D
Oh, the way we lived then
Em
Selling Deutschmark or Yen
D
Never thinking of where did it come from
C B7
How long would it last us, or when
Em D
Would we all have to pay for this mad holiday
G D
For the Porsche and the Rolls that were our only goals
B7
Me and Jason and Ben
Em D Em D
Oh, the way we lived then

[Verse 3]
Em D
Jason met Sarah, a girl in P.R.
Em D
They had a white wedding, all paid for by Pa
Em D
Borrowed a fortune to buy their first pad
G B7
It was two hundred K, but then prices were mad
Em D
The way we lived then, the way we lived then
Em
The way we lived then

[Verse 4]
Em D
Jason said, three years, we'll sell and move on
Em D
Then suddenly, we turned and Maggie was gone
Em D
Ben said, don't worry, she's schooled them all well
G B7
So, we drank to the sending of a message to hell
Em D
Oh, the way we lived then, the way we lived then
Em
The way we lived then

[Chorus]
D
Oh, the way we lived then
Em
Selling Deutschmark or Yen
D
Never thinking of where did it come from
C B7
How long would it last us, or when
Em D
Would we all have to pay for this mad holiday
G D
For the Porsche and the Rolls that were our only goals
B7
Me and Jason and Ben
Em D Em D
Oh, the way we lived then

[Verse 5]
Em D
Sarah got pregnant, then Jason got fired
Em D
Ben took a pay cut and I felt too tired
Em D
Burnt out at thirty and sacked on the day
G B7
The repo man took my red Roller away
Em D
Oh, the way we lived then, the way we lived then
Em
The way we lived then

[Instrumental]
Em D Em D Em D C B7

[Verse 6]
Em D
Now there's bread on the table and beer in the glass
Em D
But it's merely a set back for breeding and class
Em D
Monopoly money means 'always pass go'
G B7
And we'll surely pass you if you're going too slow
Em D
And we'll live it again, the way we lived then
Em
We'll live it again

[Chorus]
D
Yes, we'll live it again
Em
Selling Deutschmark or Yen
D
Only this time we'll know where it comes from
C B7
We'll know how to keep it, and then
Em D
We'll make someone else pay for our mad holiday
G D
For the Porsche and the Rolls that are our only goals
B7
Me and Jason and Ben
Em D
We'll live it again
Em D
The way we lived then
Em D Em D Em D Em D Em
We'll live it again
